Visual Commerce
What is Visual Commerce?
Noun
Visual Commerce refers to a broad category of features which make visual media transactional. Visual media may refer to lifestyle images or brand photography, social media (including User Generated Content), video — even traditional media such as catalogs, lookbooks, magazines, signage, advertising and billboards.
Modern technology and features that enable brands to tag products in images, video, Instagram and visual search have allowed media to be linked to commerce. Providing customers the ability to transact outside of traditional websites increases engagement and conversion, and ultimately the life-time value of customers.
To capture the attention of millennials and Gen Z users, many retailers and brands are developing visual commerce strategies in response to the increase in consumption of visual media such as Instagram, Snapchat and auto-play videos.
