2020 USPS Promotions
USPS has released their 2020 promotion and incentive programs and there are a lot of ways to save on your First Class and USPS Marketing Mail in the new year!
Similar to 2019, the 2020 “mobile shopping” promotion won’t go into effect until August. However you don’t have to wait until August to start saving — as soon as February 1st you could save up to 2% on qualifying postage with the Interactive Engagement and Advanced Technology promo, or March 1st with Emerging Tech.

Tactile, Sensory and Interactive Mailpiece Engagement
Promotion period: Feb 1 — July 31, 2020 (registration Dec 15 through July 31st 2020)
During this promotion, mailers are encouraged to enhance customer engagement via print innovations in paper and stock, substrates, inks, interactive elements, and finishing techniques. A postage discount of 2% may be applied to regular and nonprofit marketing mail letters and flats that meet the promotion requirements.
2020 Emerging & Advanced Technology
Promotion period: March 1 — August 31, 2020 (registration January 15 through August 31st 2020)
To ensure that direct mail continues to be a relevant part of the marketing mix, the Emerging & Advanced Technology Promotion encourages mailers to incorporate technologies such as “Enhanced” Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality, Near Field Communication (NFC), Video in Print (ViP) featuring Shoppable Video, Integration with Digital Assistants, and Addressable TV technology application in their direct mail campaigns.
Promotion period: April 1 — June 30, 2020 (registration February 15 through March 31st 2020)
Earned value promotion is intended to lessen the decline of First-Class Mail. USPS would like to continue using disruptive technology to increase mail volume. Mailers who register their Mail ID may receive postage credit for each mail piece that’s scanned during the promotion period.
Personalized Color Transpromo
Promotion period: July 1 — December 31, 2020 (registration May 15 through December 31st 2020)
This promotion encourages mailers to add color marketing messaging in order to build better connections and responses from their customers. First-Class Mail presort and automation letters will be eligible for a 2% postage discount during the promotion.
Promotion period: August 1 — December 31, 2020 (registration June 15 through December 31st 2020)
The Mobile Shopping Promotion encourages mailers to send mailings that highlight the connection between the mailpiece and the digital shopping experience. It is designed to enable customers to conveniently go from the mailpiece, directly to a mobile-optimized online shopping experience using platforms, such as Quick Response (QR) Codes, Snap Tags, Watermarks, and other advanced technologies.
